BUSHFIRE RECOVERY LAUNCESTON - PLANT PROPAGATION
Conservation Volunteers
Event description
In the aftermath of the recent bushfires across Australia, Conservation Volunteers has been entrusted as a one of the key organisations to assist in the recovery by coordinating and delivering immediate environmental recovery needs of bushfire affected areas.
In many areas across the country we are still in an emergency phase, whilst other areas are only beginning to assess the losses caused by bushfire and plan for recovery. Volunteering opportunities will be limited in the very short-term - but there are ways that you can help!
Conservation Volunteers Australia, in partnership with The Understory Network and The Australian Plant Society (Tas) invite you to a free event featuring:
• Hands-on information sessions introducing low-flammability native plant species for a native garden around your property (starting at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30),
• Demonstrations on propagation of plants from seeds and cuttings. Plants grown will go to Fingal bushfire rehabilitation projects.
We are holding the event at the Nursery from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm
We look forward to helping the fire affected areas and providing our wildlife new opportunities and new beginnings!
What you need to bring and wear: Snacks and a water bottle. Please wear appropriate clothing for the activity including sturdy footwear.
Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The level of interest from the community and offers of support has been enormous. Places on this event are limited, so if this event is booked out please keep an eye out for other upcoming opportunities where you can get involved.
